What's new on this web page?

If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), ... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.

December 27, 2008. Will there be a Faces reunion? As of December 11, 2008 Ian MacLagan's Macspages says there have been band rehearsals. However, he also says nothing has been decided. So all we can do is stay tuned and see what develops.

November 16, 2007. Clash Magazine - Interrogate Ronnie Wood and win a signed DVD! Win the Ronnie Wood live in 1974 at Kilburn State in north west London. All you have to do is submit a question for the upcoming interview, and if it is used, you will get the live DVD. Competition closes at Noon on Tuesday 20th November, 2007.

September 16, 2007. I was just reading that all four studio albums have been remastered and are being released with bonus tracks. I will be posting the details when I get them.

May 31, 2007. You can now listen to streaming free music from this band as well as others at Wolfgangs Vault.

July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.

August 10, 2004. I just picked up Five Guys Walk Into A Bar ..., the 4 CD compilation. A lot of interesting and rare stuff, including BBC, 45s, ...

February 1, 2003. I started creating this page.

FACES
INTRO:
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

In March 1969 when Steve Marriott left the Small Faces, the rest of the members of the band wanted to continue. So they did the only thing they could do when the singer/guitarist left the band, they replaced him. Actually, they found two people to replace him. They brought in Rod Stewart on vocals, who had just left the Jeff Beck Group in June 1969. Ron Wood, who had played bass for the Jeff Beck Group and also recently left that band, switched back to his original instrument, guitar, and thus the new, Faces were complete.

With the addition of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, their sound changed into a more high energy rock. Rod Stewart has a unique voice that worked for the rock tunes they were performing.

At the same time the Faces were getting started, Rod Stewart was also starting a solo career on a different record label. And while the Faces were working to become popular, Rod Stewart was becoming more popular as a solo performer. So popular, that the band eventually changed their name to Rod Stewart and the Faces before finally disbanding when Rod decided to concentrate on his solo career.

Rod Stewart continued on with his solo career.

Ron Wood joined the Rolling Stones, replacing Mick Taylor.

Ian McLagan started a solo career.

Ronnie Lane started a solo career. He died of Multiple Sclerosis in June 4, 1997.

Kenny Jones eventually joined the Who, replacing Keith Moon.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated.

And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.

Do you have any articles, books, albums, tapes, CDs, ... on this band that you would like reviewed and / or integrated into this page?

Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

This is an experiment. I am listing various classified ads that might be of interest to browsers of this page.

Let me know what you think of this idea?

And if you do order something listed here, let them know you found out about it here.

Also, let me know how this worked out for you.

MusicStack looks like a good source of used music items (LPs, CDs, posters, ...).
As always, let me know what you think.

4 Million Hard to Find CDs & LPs at MusicStack
December 10, 2002.
Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.

As always, let me know what you think.
