SMALL FACES
WHAT's NEW
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

What's new on this web page?

If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), ... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.

May 2012. Mojo Magazine Small Faces Deluxe Editions Due In May. Four Small Faces CDs are getting the deluxe reissue treatment. All will include the mono and stereo versions with additional bonus tracks.

May 28, 2010. I just picked up my copy of Small Faces - All Or Nothing 1965 - 1968 a DVD collection of video performances of the Small Faces. The information from the liner notes is now integrated into this web page.

July 7, 2008. I just picked up my copy of Nice, a 2 CD set of performances from German TV (Beat, Beat, Beat and Beat Club). The first disc is the audio only portion of the performance, the second disc, is the video performance. There is also a booklet with an interview with all the band members.

November 22, 2005. I just picked up my copy of The Decca Anthology 1965 - 1967 which contains all the Decca sessions EXCEPT I Can't Make It, which can be found on the expanded There Are But Four Small Faces.

July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.

November 19, 2002. I started creating this page. :-)

SMALL FACES
INTRO:
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]

The Small Faces started in London, England in July 1965 by Steve Marriott, James Winston, Ronnie Lane and Kenny Jones. James Winston was quickly replaced by Ian McLagan. The Small Faces started out playing R & B. By the end of their career, they had also played pop and psychedelic rock. Steve Marriott was the main singer/songwriter and helped give the Small Faces their unique sound.

Even though their recorded output was a bit hard to follow (albums were issued with different tracks and different titles in different countrys) their music is worth listening to, and some of it is still in print.

After leaving Small Faces, Steve Marriott formed Humble Pie. That band lasted about 6 years. When Humble Pie broke up, Steve Marriott had a brief solo career. He then reformed Small Faces (between June 1976 and May 1978). They did one tour, recorded two albums and broke up again. He then reformed Humble Pie (which lasted about two years). After that, he performed under his own name until his death on April 20, 1991.

Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane and Kenny Jones got together with Rod Stewart (vocals, guitar) and Ron Wood (guitar), both fresh from the Jeff Beck Group, at which point, they changed their name from the Small Faces, to the Faces.

Comments and corrections would be appreciated.

And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.

I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.

Do you have any articles, books, albums, tapes, CDs, ... on this band that you would like reviewed and / or integrated into this page?

Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

This is an experiment. I am listing various classified ads that might be of interest to browsers of this page.

Let me know what you think of this idea?

And if you do order something listed here, let them know you found out about it here.

Also, let me know how this worked out for you.

MusicStack looks like a good source of used music items (LPs, CDs, posters, ...).
As always, let me know what you think.

4 Million Hard to Find CDs & LPs at MusicStack
December 10, 2002.
Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.

As always, let me know what you think.
